Enfield EN3 · electronics, networks, firmware · since 2019
We are an electronics and network workshop on Woodcock Way in Enfield. We wire buildings, build and repair the hardware inside them, and write the firmware that makes it behave. Ten minutes on the phone is usually enough to work out which of the three you need.
The same firm pulls the cable, terminates it, racks the switch and writes the code that talks to it. Nobody gets to blame the other contractor, because there isn't one.
Each copper and fibre run is tested with a Fluke DSX and handed over with the results file, a labelling schedule and a drawing. Ask for it in ten years and we will still have it.
A failed control board is often one capacitor and forty minutes. We will say so. When a repair is false economy, we will say that instead, with the numbers.
We do not take domestic call-outs, and we will not price a job we have not walked. If you need a laptop looking at this afternoon, we are the wrong number.
Riser planning · four-storey fit-out · Ponders End
Every floor gets drawn before anything is pulled. It takes an afternoon and it is the reason our installs finish on the date we gave you rather than the date we hoped for.
The workshop
DEVlayry started in March 2019 as two people and a van, doing overnight cabling for offices that could not lose a working day. The name came later; the van did not.
The rule about surveys came from a job in the first winter. A warehouse in Ponders End wanted forty data points and had, they said, already run the containment. We priced it over the phone. What was in the ceiling was twenty-year-old Cat5e stapled to a joist, and we spent nine days on a five-day job and finished it out of our own pocket. Since then we walk every site before a number leaves this building. Clients occasionally find that slow. It has also meant that no client has been handed a variation invoice since.
Today the workshop runs three engineers out of Woodcock Way in Enfield, and the work has split roughly in half: cabling, racks and repair on one side, embedded firmware and the software around it on the other. The two halves keep feeding each other. The people who wire a building tend to write better code for what lives in it.
DEVlayry is our workshop name. The company behind it is Asa Technologies Ltd, registered in England & Wales, company number 17367143.
What we are asked for
Tick anything that sounds like your problem. It carries through to the enquiry form at the bottom of the page, so you do not have to describe it twice.
Selected services carry through to the form ↓
Prices are a guide. We quote properly once we have walked the site, and that written quote holds for 30 days. Figures exclude VAT and any parts we buy on your behalf, which we pass on at cost.
How a job runs
Free, an hour or so, usually within four working days. We measure, photograph the ceiling void and argue with you about where the cabinet should go.
Parts listed line by line, labour separate, dates on it. Valid 30 days. If we got the survey wrong, that is our problem, not a variation.
Evenings and weekends if your floor cannot stop. Dust sheets down, one engineer named as your contact, a photo update at the end of each shift.
Test results, labelling schedule, drawings and firmware sources where they apply. Then a call four weeks later to check nothing has started misbehaving.
Next step
A photograph of the comms cupboard on your phone is honestly enough to start with. If it is a board or a firmware problem instead, describe the fault and we will tell you whether it is worth repairing before you send anything.
